Prt. Desmond Adams

Prt. Desmond Adams, formerly of the Dorsetshire Regiment, served in No.3 Troop of No.6 Commando from, at least, 4th June 1944.

Prt. Desmond Adams was reported as being Killed in Action (KIA) on 6th June 1944, aged 19 years, whilst readying to attack a pill box shortly after No.3 Troop had spearheaded the Commando off SWORD beach.

He was the Son of Stanley and Daisy Adams, of Wanborough, Wiltshire, and was laid to rest in Hermanville War Cemetery (Calvados, France), Grave 1.A.8.

The inscription on his headstone reads:

‘We who loved you, still sadly miss you.  Mum, Dad and two Brothers.’
